YOD Gallery is pleased to present ‘Temporary Contemporary Photography’, an exhibition by four photographers. Kunihiko Katsumata, Takashi Suzuki, Kazuto Tanaka and Yuki Tawada disturb the perception of photography as a mere reproduction of a given image. They go beyond the representations captured by the camera to include even the medium of photography itself in their work. The works thus created are no longer copies of reality. The photographers are attempting to glimpse a new world that only photography can create in the space between reality and unreality. The questions of the four overlap in some respects, while in others they stray from the other three. By bringing them together, we sense more than the individuality of each of them. The intersection and dispersion between the works opens up a horizon that allows us to relativise our own perceptions.

YOD Gallery

YOD Gallery was established in 2008 with a mission to present a new sense of value and expression to and from Japan. It has been supporting local art scenes and emerging artists with new media, including video, photography, installation and others. It represents works sparing no effort or time in expression, which comprise Japanese aesthetic beauty, with a substantial concept and important messages to out modern society behind itself.
