This work explores the relationship between science and movement. The life of Marie Skłodowska-Curie, who moved from Poland to France, symbolizes how knowledge develops across cultures. Through Yulico Sasaoka's body data, the work visualizes Curie's research and its impact, depicting the personal sacrifices that science entails.

※Organized by Adam Mickiewicz Institute

※Project financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland

Artist / Brand

Yuriko Sasaoka

Born in Osaka Prefecture, Sasaoka explores the intersection of video and painting. To this end, she draws out a sense of foreignness and incongruity similar to the traces of hands and brushstrokes in painting, which cannot be found in high-performance CG video, and weave their own unique stories. Along with meticulous compositions and narratives, she creates a unique worldview that feels both nostalgic and yet unseen, bringing it vividly to life. Currently, she is based in the Kansai region and Hong Kong.

OSAKA CITY CENTRAL PUBLIC HALL

The Osaka City Central Public Hall, located in Nakanoshima, is beloved and cherished by many people throughout the ages for its beautiful Neo-Renaissance style exterior that is reflected in the blue of the water and the green of the trees. It was highly evaluated as a historically significant building, and in December 2002, it was designated as a National Important Cultural Property, the first public hall building in western Japan to receive this designation.
