This illustration series was created with the desire to depict the world of classical literature and historical fiction by fusing the Art Nouveau design aesthetic — as exemplified by Alphonse Mucha — with traditional Japanese motifs. Referencing the commercial design of the Meiji and Taisho eras as a source of ideas for this East-meets-West approach, the works feature delicate and intricate line drawings with a distinctly retro character.
