ART SCRAMBLE is an art project that supports artists who take flight from Grand Front Osaka to the rest of Japan and the world. With Noboru Tsubaki as project director, the project has been showcasing numerous works by up-and-coming artists at Grand Front Osaka since its launch in March 2021, bringing surprise and discovery to the daily lives of visitors. For the 11th installment, several works by Mai Yoneyama are exhibited.

An art fair will be held to deliver new value from the forefront of art. The event will attract galleries and artists from both Japan and abroad to Umekita, where redevelopment is expanding its potential as a new cultural hub, and foster encounters and dialogues through art. In Kitakagaya, another venue for the event, large-scale works and installations will be presented. Combined with the memories of the modern industrial heritage site, once bustling as a shipyard, the works will create a truly unique viewing experience.

Chayamachi Oshi Festival

This is an area-wide strolling event, bringing together many oshi (fan favorites) centered on anime. Marking its fourth year, the event will evolve even further this year as a participatory experience where everyone can express and share their passion for their favorites. A diverse range of activities will take place throughout the area, including art booths, stages and cosplay events featuring voice actors and idols, and parades. Last year, the festival attracted 134,000 visitors. The festival brims with diversity, with schools, businesses, commercial facilities, and neighborhood associations in the area all promoting their own unique favorites.

This is one of the largest architectural events in Japan, focusing on buildings in the city of Osaka and offering free admission to Osaka’s “living architecture” all at once, from historical building designated as cultural assets to contemporary buildings that are the talk of the town. Through a variety of programs, including special openings of buildings that are normally closed to the public, guided tours, and experiential workshops, you can discover the fascinating world of architecture and feel the charms of Osaka. An official guidebook will also be released.

The “FUJIFILM INSTAX presents MURAL TOWN KONOHANA,” a mural project held in Konohana Ward, currently exhibits over 37 works by artists from 22 countries. The mural culture is not yet widespread in Japan. In this area, home to one of the richest collections of murals in Japan, you can enjoy masterpieces by global artists.
