‎Joanna Hawrot communicates using fashion for this event, interweaving the history and experiences of women into the very fabric of each piece. Through the medium of clothing, she reveals the true natures of women who differ in terms of traits such as age, occupation and gender.

By fusing her influences from Polish textile-art heritages of masterful creators Magdalena Abakanowicz and Wojciech Sadley with elements from Japanese kimono culture, Hawrot sublimates works of fashion based on unique perspectives into the realm of art.

In addition to Hawrot's works, the exhibition will feature pieces from celebrated Polish photographer Zuza Krajewska, showcasing various portraits she has shot of Japanese and Polish women. Krajewska's photographs capture women wearing outfits designed by Hawrot, depicting not merely works of fashion, but the individual stories behind each subject.

The Unseen Threads Exhibition serves as a symbol connecting disparate eras, cultures and individuals, and ‎Joanna Hawrot's art provides unfiltered looks at women in the contemporary world, making the event a celebration of diversity. At the same time, the powerful art installations featured at the Daimaru exhibition venue open up new possibilities for the fields of fashion and art.

Artist / Brand

‎Joanna Hawrot

Joanna Hawrot is a leading fashion designer in Poland. Based on the "FROM FASHION TO ART" concept, she elevates clothing to the level of art. Her designs are characterized by transcendence of the boundaries between the traditional and the modern. She calls upon Japanese aesthetics and structural forms while combining different textiles in revolutionary ways.

The resulting "wearable art" is created with a strong focus on detail and exquisite fabric design skills, and embodies both art and fashion trends. The resulting pieces retain their function as clothing while offering expressiveness that brings out the individual qualities of the wearer—this is a singular style which Hawrot has built.

Her works have been shown in Paris, Tokyo, New York and other major urban centers around the globe, and people everywhere view it as wearable art that embodies a design approach fusing the artist's unique vision with artisanal talent.
