To celebrate 90 years of Stool 60 designed by Alvar Aalto in 1933, we are introducing three anniversary models at Arco Store. The “Stool 60 Kontrasti” highlights Stool 60’s great innovations by contrasting tones of thermo-treated birch veneer sheets.We are accepting pre-orders for the limited quantity model “Stool 60 Loimu”, which uses rare Finnish birch wood with a flame-like wood grain pattern. We will show another limited model “Stool 60 Sleeping Beauty” collaborated Japanese architect Tsuyoshi Tane with movie of production process in Japan. In addition, we will also have the exhibition “Decades” which look back on the history of Stool 60 through each ages original stool from “Artek 2nd Cycle” in Helsinki.

Alvar Aalto（1898-1976）

Artek, a Finnish interior brand, was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Their goal was “to sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means.”In keeping with the radical spirit of its founders, Artek today remains an innovative player in the world of modern design, developing new products at the intersection of design, architecture, and art.
