String. Despite being a useful tool that always appears in various scenes of daily life such as clothing, food, and living, and is used in various ways, it is often overlooked and relegated to the role of a supporting character that never receives much attention. This beloved and plain tool is like a “mob” character that is pushed to the outskirts of consciousness. By reexamining the behavior of this lovable but ordinary tool as a pattern, we explore a new aspect of the string.

A unit consisted by three designers primarily active in the Kansai region, and a philosopher proceeding with study of design field. Their motto is to extract various regularities and patterns, or “units,” from the realm of the “everyday” that tends to be overlooked as it is not just goods.

Their approach involves observing daily life and extracting various regularities and units from their surroundings, essentially turning the everyday into a playground. It is often these playful activities that are pursued with enthusiasm that end up breaking conventional and stuffy classifications.
