“Bizarro Plants”, rare plants that are said to be living art forms, and Masamichi Okuda, one of the most famous ceramic artists of our time, come together in a work full of originality. Please enjoy the energetic presence that overflows from both the life-giving nature of Bizarro Plants and the works of Okuda, who expresses the strength of nature through the use of earth.

Masamichi Okuda

Born in Shigaraki, Koka. Graduated Kyoto University of the Arts, Kyoto Prefectural Ceramics Advanced Technical College. In 2004, he joined his father Yasumasa’s pottery studio, Yasuo, and began to make pottery in earnest. Valuing unusual perspectives and emphasizing glazes to create his “odd pottery”, he has been researching and honing his craft to create ceramics that respond to the changes of the times and to preserve traditional crafts for the next generation.

Isao Takahata

He is the fourth-generation proprietor of Hana-U (now Hana-Universe), a flower and plant wholesaler that has been in business since the early Meiji period. A pioneer in introducing rare and unusual plants to Japan, he has participated in many domestic and international events, collaborated with fashion brands, and been featured in the media. From 2021, he has been focusing on his collaboration with KMC Greene, organized by KMC president Shigeru Masuda.
