This is a solo exhibition by Tomoya Sakai, a popular ceramic artist whose work is based on the theme of preserving memories that are being lost.
In the past, humanity’s treasured memories were entrusted to the gods or other religious beliefs. Sakai has been thinking about what “god” means in contemporary Japan, and has created a work titled “Spirit” which incorporates motifs of gods throughout history and across the globe into modern Japanese culture. This exhibition will bring together works in a wide variety of colors and shapes, in addition to the latest works from the “Spirit” series.
