In my paintings, I explore the beautiful behavior of color with the materiality of paint. Viscous acrylics slowly cascade down tilted canvases, where colors intertwine, flow, and eventually settle into stillness. In stark contrast to the chaos of a paint-splattered studio, witness the birth of these works in the heart of the city – a department store. I invite you to see the colors painted without the use of paintbrushes, the open studio, and the development of the work as an installation that changes over time.

※Works will be on display in the main entrance window of 1F from June 12 (Wed) - June 18 (Tue)

Through his artistic practice, he strives to be “a free medium that connects everything.” In recent years, Mugi has been exploring the fundamental elements of painting: “movement, depth, and light,” incorporating the passage of time as matter flows under gravity into his works.
