Eight galleries in the Kyoto–Osaka–Kobe area are participating in Hanshin Art Meeting Vol.3 under the theme of ”More art in our lives. ”We are exhibiting numerous works by unique artists recommended by each gallery. They are places to enjoy encounters with art that adds enjoyment to your daily life. In this issue, we have a special feature on Tamame Akamatsu, whose works are exhibited in “Gallery Haku”. The exhibition focuses on drawings.

Artist Profile

Tamame Akamatsu

Painter. Born in 1959 in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture. After graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts in 1984 with a master’s degree in painting (oil painting), she mainly exhibited at museums and galleries in Japan and abroad. She researches the possibilities of pictorial expression by combining materials and techniques, such as oil, watercolor, and fresco. After engaging in creative activities in Italy, she became a faculty member of the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts (oil painting), in 1993. In April, 2019, she was appointed president of Kyoto City University of Arts.
